That 1%-er biker gangs go for a tumble in a bar is what is expected from them ... more or less. Outlaw motorcycle gangs will pull out their fists (and other weapons) at the drop of a hat. It's then up to the boys (and girls) in blue to stop the bar brawl.

But what happens when the biker gang participating in a bar fight ARE the men (and girls) in blue?

Police Motorcycles Group

The gang is called the Iron Brotherhood Motorcycle Club Open Ironbrotherhoodmc link in a new window and despite having mainly law enforcement members, for the rest it's a typical m/c gang, down to the patches and nicknames. You even get rewarded for being in a bar fight.

The Arizona chapter was celebrating Christmas last year, and booze was flowing freely in a bar when several of its members decided to go to another bar. There, a drunken man started asking the chapter president about the patches when he was pushed away and then beaten up. Punches were flying and the drunken man ended up with a smashed and bloody nose.

The president was in fact the Prescott Valley Police Chief, Bill Fessler, who the prosecutors are trying to charge with obstructing the investigation and misdemeanors for lying. Fessler shortly after the bar fight resigned, as did other members of the gang.

It becomes very difficult to accept persecuting other motorcycle clubs as hard as cops do when they themselves behave as bad as the ones they arrest. "We expect our officers to act appropriately, and that's what we're looking at," Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said.

The deputy police chief of Prescott valley Police, Andy Reinhardt, stated that the clothing the members wore should not be used against them. But why do they use it against members of other motorcycle clubs? Just for wearing patches will make you very visible to the eyes of the law.

So quite cynical when cops go after m/c clubs but they themselves behave like one. That's like cops stealing, using drugs and killing others. And that doesn't happen, right?
