You've got to love these speed radars and the companies that manage them. In Italy a van (Fiat Doblo ) got caught speeding at the incredible speed of 764 mph (or 1230 kph). The owner of the can got a nice letter from local police asking him to pay the sum of €165 (US$223), which if you think of the speed cited is very low. With the 5% tolerance for errors of the radar, the speed was adjusted to 1078 kph. The speed ticket was signed by two officers. None of the people involved even flinched when they saw the speed; they just sent out the ticket. When the owner contacted the authorities, they blamed the incident on a "clerical error". The Fiat has a top speed of 97 mph! You've got to wonder about these speed radars and their commercial operators. So many have in the past been wrong, and all they care about is getting the money from motorcycle and car owners. And it's not only in Italy, it's all over the world. If you click on the "via:" link below, you can see the list of massive speed camera reading that were totally wrong (at the end of their article). IMHO, I think that any speed ticket you get should be checked and re-checked.
