Rumor time again. Europe's largest car manufacturer, the German Volkswagen  , is looking at increasing its product portfolio.
They want to do that by buying up a motorcycle manufacturer, and Ducati is in their sights.
Ferdinand Piëch , the Volkswagen Chairman (and grandson of Porche), also happens to be a passionate motorcycle rider, and one of his favorite motorcycles is.... you guessed it... a Ducati. It sounds like a TV ad for the 80's.. "I liked the product so much, I bought the company" (anyone remember which product that was.... no prizes for the first to answer).
Somehow it just doesn't sound right... "I ride a Volkswagen"... I prefer "I ride a Ducati".... It's a bit like Valentino Rossi MotoGP saying Fiat...
Ducati, who have been undergoing several ownership changes in the past, and have recently announced that they would start buying back their own shares, are going to end up in turmoil again. When will things ever settle down?
