French motorcycle manufacturer Voxan has launched itself at the Paris "Mondial du Deux Roues" Motorcycle Exhibition into the touring motorcycle market, a market known for sturdy and reliable motorcycles. Its clientele are demanding, mostly requiring reliability and comfort. Can Voxan deliver with their new GTV1200, in a market dominated by the likes of BMW, Yamaha, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, etc. The GTV1200 is a snazzy looking touring motorcycle, it definitely looks the part. Though rather square, the Voxan GTV1200 is aerodynamic. The fairings look like they'll keep out most of the wind (and rain). The "look" of the motorcycle reminds you of the Norse or BMW GT. The 43 liter sidebags can be removed, while the optional topcase has a volume of 45 liters (optional as well are the ABS and GPS). The seats can be adjusted in height. The mirrors have a built-in indicators. The wind screen is adjustable, but it's a manual operation (not electric). The pillion passenger has a built-in backrest. Instruments are sober, with no bells & whistles, but with enough data to fulfill any long distance rider. Rev and speed are presented in analog, the rest of the information (fuel, odo, temperature, etc) are in digital format. The Voxan GTV1200 has a V-twin engine at 72°, with 4 valves per cylinder. The clutch is wet, while the engine is air cooled. The 1166 cc engine will generate 78 Kw at 9,000 rpm (French versions are limited, to 78 Kw, international version will have more power), and a torque of 115 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The GTV1200 is driven by a belt, not a chain or shaft. The dry weight of the motorcycle is 179 Kgs, with a 23 liter fuel tank. Not much else was mentioned in the "press briefing" documents, for example missing are their performances (French and international), full list of instruments, etc. Maybe next time Voxan can have better information. The Voxan GTV1200 will be available June 2008. No price known.
