I rarely read Craiglist ads since they have no meaning for me on this side of the pond, but this one came across my desk and I just can not resist. The advertisement is for the Los Angeles area, and the subject reads "$30-50 Per Hour For Attractive, Service Oriented Motorcycle Drivers". So the first interest point is that if you are an attractive (ie handsome) motorcycle rider you can earn $30-50 per hour... not bad. But here's the whole ad:
Megan Fox | According to the ad you'll be driving celebrities and VIPs to public and private events. Let's face it, who doesn't want to drive a Megan Fox-type sitting behind you as pillion, holding on to you with all her strength, while riding her up to the Oscars. Dream stuff right? But what really got to me was one little sentence "You must have an M1 license or, at a minimum, know how to drive a motorcycle and we will help you obtain a license". For those of you who do not know what a M1 license is, it's a motorcycle license for big bikes. So let's understand this a bit better. The company is looking for handsome actor/model types to ride a big motorcycle, escorting VIPs to events, but the actor/model doesn't need to have a license since they will help you get one. In other words, they'll not have any experience in riding a motorcycle, all they need is to look good, just for the photo as the VIP gets on the bike, after that they can crash due to lack of experience. This is really strange. It looks like California doesn't require "commercial" drivers to have any experience. If you were a beautiful and sexy starlet, would you go and sit behind a handsome struggling actor on a motorcycle who has had only a few hours of riding in Los Angeles traffic? Unless of course all you need to do is ride Ms Fox around the corner and towards the red carpet. Click here to read the Craiglist ad .
