Sometime people go to extremes to be heard. Things are taken to the exact letter of the law. Although this story has nothing to do with motorcycles, it just shows you how some people are. An unnamed German resident filed a complaint in Germany that the pope has been seen riding around in his popemobile without wearing a seat belt. Germany is very strict about wearing a seat belt in cars, and you can be fined €2,500 (US$3,340) for not buckling up. The lawyer for the plaintiff used a YouTube video to show the pope riding around Germany without his seat belt. Luckily for the German pope, the city of Freiburg where the lawsuit was filed, threw it out. "There will be no fine for the pope," city spokeswoman Edith Lamersdorf, told the daily Badische Zeitung. "The charges were quashed." According to the city, he did not need to wear a seat belt, despite the law stating that you need one even in slow moving vehicles, because the streets were closed to the public traffic during his visit. So it looks like it helps being a pope...I wonder what would have happened if we was riding one of his Ducati motorcycles without a helmet..
