Creating new motorcycles cost a lot of money, and at this moment, in the motorcycle industry, money is tight. Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has had a bad 2009 (with a loss of 216 billion yen - US$2.3 billion), restructuring cost and now they need to develop low-cost and fuel-efficient motorcycles, including electric ones. To do that requires a lot of money, and to get their hands on the hard needed cash, they plan to sell more shares in their company. So Yamaha is going to raise US$812 million (76.1 billion yen). With that money, apart from the above mentioned motorcycles, and making their motorcycle more competitive, they also plan to develop more fuel efficient boat engines and even an electric motor-assisted bicycle. So in a year or three, we should be seeing their new motorcycles.... I can't wait.
