I have to go out on a limb here, but I think this is the very first shop that sells only electric motorcycles and scooters in France. Recently created Elecity Open link in a new window is located in the 13th District (Arrondissement) of Paris.

Elecity
Financial
Elecity sell scooters and motorcycles in two different categories; 50cc equivalent, and 125cc equivalent. They offer several different brands, E-Max, Matra and Sweet 'Elec.

Since the City of Paris offer anyone buying one of these electric scooters a nice cash-back of €400, the prices are interesting. It'll cost you around €1730 and €4000 to buy one (including the cash-back), which may be expensive compared to the gasoline guzzling counterparts, but remember that electricity is a lot cheaper than petrol.

According to Elecity, it's cost you around €0.50 per 100 kms if you charge your bike at a private electricity outlet.

But Elecity will also help you get the City of Paris electricity charging card, permitting you to recharge at one of the increasing number of charging stations in the country's capital city (the map is also displayed on their site) for FREE. That's right, with the card (which is free), you can recharge your electric scooter or motorcycle for free. Another thing to take into account: insurance is 4x cheaper than for a conventional model.

Elecity shows on their site, each model they have in stock, including the technical specifications, the distance you can ride on one charge, how long it'll take to recharge the battery, and even a video of the vehicle.

Rentals
If you're not convinced that an electric scooter or motorcycle is for you, you can rent them. This will give you a few days to try them out before deciding to take the plunge. Rates are between €25 and €35 per day, and discounted for longer periods.

So there you go... if you live in Paris, this is our chance of going green, and save yourself quite some money when commuting...
