OK, I promise, no more Dakar stories until the 2006 Dakar race !!! So, here are the last two reports written up by the two Rauseo brothers, Charlie and Dave. Both ride KTM Motorcycles.
They have written up their side of the Dakar adventure story. Riding motorcycles in any race is never easy, but riding your motorcycle in the toughest race in the world merits your attention, specially when both brothers know how to spin a good yarn.
Charlie Rauseo, riding with dorsal number 116, finished in the very respectable 86th position.
It was his 2nd time riding the Dakar dragon, and reading his story, I don't think its his last one either.
As I've been getting many emails from riders who want to try their luck (skill?) in the next Dakar race, I strongly urge you to read these reports. What you see on TV or on the web/magazine coverage is not at all what you will be enduring. Only riders who have braved the elements and obstacles can tell you. Read these reports, think about it, and then decide if you really want to race in the Dakar.
