 Real Motorcycle Applications On Apple’s iPhone

The Apple iPhone is used by quite a lot of motorcycle riders, but strangely there aren't that many motorcycle applications available. In fact, so far there's been only one or two that I know about. Not a motorcycle game, or an application that "also" caters to motorcycles, but one that has been made 100% for us bikers.

One such application is MyRide from Edible Apps Open link in a new window, an application that allows you to record your motorcycle maintenance and expenses, a checklist and important information (like VIN or serial number) about your ride.

Another similar application is Motorcycle Minder from John Monroe Open link in a new window. Like MyRide it records your maintenance and check milestones, telling you when you need to change the oil, lube the chain or change the SWMBOShe Who Must Be Obeyed.

There are some other motorcycle applications, such several motorcycle theory tests, like the UK Motorcycle Theory Test Open link in a new window or Motorcycle Test Open link in a new window, or motorcycle information apps, like Harley Envi, BMW Envi, etc.

Also, we also obviously have our own information, but they are not applications but iPhone web tailored information. But since we have your attention, here's a little plug: the daily motorcycel news can be found on your iPhone web browser by going to http://news.motorbiker.org/wap.nsf Open link in a new window (it'll only work on iPhones), and all motorcycle friendly accommodation in France can be found on http://news.motorbiker.org/accommodation.nsf Open link in a new window (which works on PCs and other devices).

The 3rd motorcycle specific application is now ready to hit the market (it's waiting for Apple God approval). That application is called Biker Beacon Open link in a new window, and it's a bit like a social networking website, except this thing can be used for different purposes. Biker Beacon maps your riding buddies in real time. If you're out riding in a group, and someone gets left behind, that person can find you, or you can find that person quickly.

Biker Beacon allows you to add your motorcycle club, or motorcycle forum evens, and have all members see it. You share your events with whoever is subscribed. It even updates your status in real time to Twitter and Facebook.

The application allows you to find like-minded bikers in your area.

The application uses the latest features available on your iPhone (like GPS and compass), but you can use older versions of the popular phone. It comes configured in 5 languages; English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese.
