Smartphone Motorcycle Mirror 23 May 2012   Author: Mike Werner   Location: Normandy, France Via: Motorpasion Moto I was reading through an article on the Spanish site Motorpasion Moto about the Italian Rizoma motorcycle mirror "Code ". Rizoma's Code is a mirror that is made to closely resemble a smartphone. Simple, elegant and novel: For naked and custom motorcycle, this mirror could look nice on their bike, albeit at a price... €119 for one (Rizoma Code ). But that got me thinking... ... why not put a smartphone where your left mirror would be, and using the onboard camera to see what's behind you. The advantage of that is that you could zoom in to the level you want. An additional advantage, depending on software developers, is that you could, on the same "mirror", have navigation instructions, or even traffic information appear. You could even use the phone's front facing camera to record your ride. And for the bikers who want to see more behind them and get more information, you could put an iPad...
