Losing your motorcycle (or other precious things) can be challenging to your nerves. You can have your motorcycle stolen, lost or lent to someone, and you really want to know where it is.

The more expensive your motorcycle is, the more you'll be worried.

CATSeye GPS tracking system
An English company is in the finishing stages of producing one of world's (maybe even THE world's) smallest tracking devices.

Named the C.A.T.S.eye (Covert Asset Tracking System), the unit is so small (the size of a box of matches - 59mm x 39mm x 17mm), it can be fitted anywhere inside your motorcycle (or quad, car, laptop, even on a child).

What's more interesting, the unit is equipped with a GPS, GSM/GPRS (quad band) and a RF-UHF transmitter. In other words, if can transmit via radio or mobile data networks, the exact location it is in. If the unit can't receive a proper GPS signal, it will use GSM triangulation to establish its location. For exact location, the RF transmitter is used. This means that you can find out where the unit is, even if it's inside a building.

The unit is also equipped with a built-in microphone and movement detector. You can program the unit to send out an SMS with its current location, when specific parameters are met.

You can also program the unit for a safe geographical area (Geo-fence). So, if the unit is within the geographical parameters, nothing happens, but once out, it will send out an alarm (you could even put the unit on a child or dog, and if it leaves the garden or playground, sound an alarm).

When you purchase the unit, you can subscribe to their tracking service. With a monthly fee, you'll be able to find out where the C.A.T.S.eye is at any given moment. Monthly fees range from £2.50 to £7.50.

Asset Tracking Team

The company also offers Asset Tracking Teams. We all know that the Police doesn't move that quickly to recover a stolen motorcycle. So the company will have at your disposal, 24/7, trained teams of trackers (usually ex-law enforcement officers) that will find your possession.

The service is currently only available in the UK.

The possibilities for the unit are numerous. Just with motorcycles alone;
  • you can use it for theft,
  • motorcycle dealers can install it on showroom motorcycles when loaned out to customers,
  • adventure bikers can use to so the folks back home will know where they are,
  • motorcycle messengers companies can track their deliveries,
  • rally/race organizers can use it to track participants
  • etc

Recommended price:£ 285.

The company is looking for UK and International distributors, so if you're interested contact them.
