Many of us have smartphones (Blackberry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Palm, etc), and many use it for navigation purposes (or for reading the news on-line {link}).

AlerteGPS Open link in a new window, a company already mentioned on this site {link}, have a vast database of speed radars, fixed, mobile and red light in France, UK, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Portugal and The Netherlands.

The principle of AlerteGPS is that you the motorcycle rider (or cage driver) help the community. When you see a Police speed trap, you press certain buttons on the smartphone. This will tell the rest of the community that there's a speed trap ahead. It's the equivalent of flashing your headlights to warn upcoming traffic of the speed trap.

AlerteGPS have teamed up with Wikango to release the software for iPhones and other smartphones. Depending on the subscription you have (ranging from Free to Premium), you can receive live updates of the status of the locations of all radars, including red light radars.

If you don't use a smartphone, you can always download the radar POIPoint Of Interest. The coordinates/location of specific interest on a GPS map.  list for most GPS (click here Open link in a new window), or buy their radar alert boxes.
