The famous and well liked motorcycle racing circuit of TT Assen Click for map (North of The Netherlands - click on globe for map, switch to satellite and zoom in to see the circuit) is the oldest in the MotoGP circuit. Built in 1955, TT-Assen Open link in a new window is immensely popular among riders and spectators.

It's been there for a long time ... very long. But apparently not long enough (or maybe too long). The Dutch local government has levied a €10,000 fine on the race circuit after motorcycle races held in February.

The circuit owners are fighting the fine, since according to them, the sound measurement equipment used by the locals was not up to spec.

Sound levels in racing machines have been reduced since the beginning of time. People who buy a house next to a race circuit should realize that despite noise reduction, there is going to be noise during racing weekends. That's like buying a house on a golf course, and then complain that you're finding golf balls in your garden...
