In their eternal quest for more money, the French government has decided to use a new, and very lethal, weapon. Already we've seen 1000's of digital high-tech radars controlling our vehicles, and then they put unmarked cars equipped with onboard radars. They are nasty, but if you pay attention, you can spot them.

So now the French government are looking for better ways to generate the hard earned cash; radar equipped motorcycles. The government has issued a Request For Proposal for hidden radars that can be placed on unmarked motorcycles. Manufacturers have one month time to respond according to the magazine Auto Plus.

The radars will be so small that you can not see them. The equipment will detect speeding vehicles going in the same direction day or night, on any of the lanes. But in the nearby future (next year probably) they are going to be used to photograph vehicles in the opposing lanes.

This summer, three manufacturers will be tested for 6 months, followed by the selection of one. By the end of the year, the system will become operational.

There will be no escaping. And if you think that this is a good thing, think again. I agree that excessive speeds should not be allowed, but over here you get ticketed for a few KPH over the limit, something very quickly done on a motorcycle when passing someone. BTW, radar detectors are highly illegal here.

I propose to end this heavy repression that all bikers pay a flat fee of €100 to the government per month, and that they stop harassing us.
