At this moment in the Netherlands, there's a debate to lower the speeds of cars & motorcycles to 80 kph (50 mph) on autoroutes close to the big cities (which is almost everywhere...).

The reasoning of these idiot-savants is that this will permit cleaner air to circulate in the cities. I'm a big believer in clean air, and would like to see more done to combat pollution, but there's something wrong in this picture..... if a car passes a certain point at 120 kph polluting let's say 10 grams of pollution in 5 seconds, then when the car drives at 80 kph, polluting 7 grams in 8 seconds then aren't we polluting almost as much ??? Or is that to simple and these people known something I don't, but don't want to say it....

Apparently, they'll decide on the 11th of October..... let's hope this doesn't catch on in the rest of Europe....
