As has become the custom, once a year, at the end of a major European motorcycle show, in this case Intermot, the Motorcycle Design Association awards the best motorcycle design award to one manufacturer.

Five design categories receive a nomination, and the best one receives the main award.

1 - Bimota DB5,
2 - Kawasaki ZX-6
3 - BMW K1200S.

Motorcycle - Open (200cc and above)

1 - KTM RC8 / Venom,
2 - Yamaha MT-01,
3 - Benelli TNT + Derbi Mulhacén

Motorcycle - Junior (up to 200cc)

1 - Rieju RS2 Matrix,
2 - Yamaha XT125,
3 - Derbi SM.

Scooters & Commuters:

1 - Derbi GP1,
2 - Aprilia Sport City,
3 - Honda Zoomer + Generic XDR

Concept Bike:

1 - Honda Griffon,
2 - Confederate Wraith,
3 - Yamaha Tricker Pro.

Yamaha Motorcycle MT-01
Apart from the 5 categories above, one motorcycle receives the top award, in this case it was the Yamaha MT-01 ! The Trophy is selected in secret by 100 motorcycle designers after press day.

There's one thing I can not understand... how come the Yamaha MT-01 motorcycle was selected 2nd in the large capacity motorcycles category, and still wins the general design award ?? Something smells in the state of Demark...
